In the pursuit to promote Philippine travel destinations to both locals and foreign tourists, Surigao del Sur – a province in the Mindanao island of the Philippines is re-introducing to the world the Tinuy-an Falls as one of the main attractions in Bislig City hailed as the booming city by the bay.

Considered to be one of the widest water falls in the Philippines, with width of about 95 meters from one end to the other, it is promoted as the Niagara Falls of the Philippine Island having a 55 meters drop that form white curtains in front of the rock formations.

How to get to Tinuy-an Falls

From Davao City (Click here to get the cheapest airline fare to Davao, Philippines), you can rent a van to Bislig City. Specifically, negotiate with the driver of the van to take you to what the locals in the place call “Mangagoy”.

Tinuy-an falls photo gerryruiz.wordpress.com

Barangay Mangagoy is the most populated and commercialized area in Bislig City.

From the Integrated Terminal at Barangay Mangagoy, you can then rent a jeep or ride on a local motorcycle transport called “habal-habal” which will bring you to the exact site of Tinuy-an Falls.

Be prepared to pay an entrance fee of twenty pesos (PHP20) for some of the developments done to the area like a wooden bridge and picnic tables. You can rent an inflatable raft as well for you to get closer to the cascading water.

Although this three-level white waterfall has diminished its water stream as of late, it is nevertheless still a favorite destination for both local and foreign tourists. The natural landscapes of this famed waterfall will surely satisfy professional and hobbyist travel photographers. There are also many personal accounts of sighting of a regular morning rainbow around 9:00 in the morning.

Those who have personally seen Tinuy-an Falls a couple of years ago would testify that the water current was far stronger before than it is today. The diminishing of the water current of Tinuy-an Falls has been attributed to the worsening case of global warming not only in the Philippines but worldwide.

Habal-habal photo maynunalsapaa.blogspot.ca

Climate change and global warming are no longer a myth as they not only became scientific facts as of late, but are actually detrimentally affecting the beauty of most waterfalls in the entire country and Tinuy-an Falls is a case in point.

With the growing public concern towards sustainable solutions for these concerns, the local administration of Surigao del Sur is advocating eco-tourism and eco-management and conservation through educating tourists on how they can help preserve the majestic view that is Tinuy-an Falls. Stricter implementation of the local ordinances to preserve and protect the century-old trees and vegetation is imposed around the area.

Tinuy-an Falls will be worth all the effort to go see it with your very own eyes. I don’t want to jinx it, but just like my grandfather would always tell to me about beauty, it is always fleeting. That said, I suggest if you’re really interested to go there, see Tinuy-an Falls the soonest time possible while this very picturesque water body is still around.

You may find that booking your travel plans can be one of the more difficult and stressful parts of the entire travel experience. There is such a wide variety of resources available these days that it can be rather difficult to decide which resource is the best to use. Use the following advice to help you make your travel plans a bit more easily and effectively without suffering from all of the stress and anxiety that can come with planning.

Online travel agents can be a great resource to use to find the best deal for you. You need to be sure to learn a bit about the website that you are using before you give them any personal information. You can do this through the Better Business Bureau website. You do not want to give your personal information and your money to a company that is not well-known. If you do your research well, you are going to be able to find some really great deals through these sites that you would not have otherwise found out about.

Package deals can be a great way to save money and stress when making travel plans. These package deals could include your flight, hotel and rental car all in one simple package. It will save you the time of having to find each particular thing individually and you will likely get a better price on it if you group it together. Be sure to do the calculations of cost to be sure that you are saving money on the package.

All inclusive travel packages could be a great way to make travel plans simpler and more affordable. You may have to pay a bit more for the reservations but you are going to save a good bit of money while you are on the trip. These packages generally include the cost of meals, transportation and sometimes even drinks, all of which would add up to be a good bit of money while you are traveling.

Use the information from travel websites to find the best destination for your trip. If you take the time to find the destination that you will enjoy the most, you will be able to get the most enjoyment for the money spent. You will be able to find information about the area in which you are considering and find ideas about activities, restaurants and tours that you could experience while you are there.

Do not blindly book your hotel. You will surely benefit from taking the time to find reviews about the hotel you are considering online. There are many resource sites that you can use to gather this information. Be sure that the reviews that you are reading are written by guests and not by the hotel itself.

Auction websites can be a great way to get a very good price on a travel package. Carefully research and consider the trips before you bid on them to be sure that you know exactly what you are getting. Look into the history of the auction site prior to bidding as well to be sure that it is a legitimate website to use to avoid making any mistakes.

You are sure to find a great deal on your travel plans by using the preceding advice when booking. It is rather easy to get great deals and good service if you take the time to plan how to plan using these tips.

If you are thinking of spending your holidays in the Philippines, consult an online Filipino travel agent who is within your city or area first.

Staying in the Philippines is a popular option for balikbayan retirees who would like to make the most of their life while they are still at their primes. The country boasts of warm and congenial people. It is rich in culture and many scenic spots abound all over the country. For a more healthful existence it is better to stay in the countryside. The air is fresher and the lifestyle is more laidback.

Catanduanes is an island in Southern Luzon which attracts a lot of tourists. It is also common to see overstaying foreigners who had opted to established residence in the island. They realized that staying in the Philippines particularly in Catanduanes is peaceful yet physically stimulating. The local folks conduct their daily activities relaxingly and languidly.

Their complacent lifestyle can influence you to slow down and calm your nerves so that your body is more able to regenerate healthier cells. There is an abundance of fresh foods such as tropical fruits, vegetable and a wide variety of sea foods that will surely nourish your body. You can also sit back and relax along the sea shore which is lined by shady palm trees.

For a more balanced lifestyle in the island you can engage in various action- packed activities such as swimming, surfing, scuba diving, trekking, dirt biking, sports fishing, etc. Swimming in its deep blue ocean amidst diverse colorful marine creatures is a feat in itself. There are also many dive sites boasting of beautiful coral reefs.

It’s no wonder that Catanduanes is touted as an eco-adventure paradise. Being located in the easternmost part of the Bicol peninsula and the first land mass in the Bicol Region that meets the Pacific Ocean, makes this island most vulnerable to typhoons hence the moniker, “the Land of the Howling Wind”. These frequent typhoons most probably are the reasons why the island is rich in marine biodiversity.

Staying in the Philippines in the island of Catanduanes is indeed an opportunity to experience bliss and a challenge to engage in an adventurous lifestyle.

If you want your vacation to the Philippines more memorable and invigorating, integrate nature into it. A balikbayan travel agency may provide you with numerous vacation packages to choose from and one of it is a vacation package to Bohol. Here you will see rows and rows of miniature hills that resemble the famous brand of mouth watering chocolate, have a close encounter with the world’s smallest primate and dine while cruising in its pristine Loboc River.

Delightful Chocolate Hills
It’s a delight seeing mounds and mounds of chocolate from afar, thousands of it actually or 1,268 to be exact. These hills have a height of no more than 50 meters and many tourists can’t believe that are not created by man because of their size and shape which are almost uniform. The hills’ chocolate color is more pronounced during the summer season and turns into green on rainy months.

Meet the Tarsiers
One of the smallest primates throughout the world can be found in Bohol. Many thought they are monkeys and are awed because they are so small and just as big as an average size human fist. They also have unusually large eyes which can be attributed to their being nocturnal. Up close they seem to be shy because they cling to the stems of the trees. Your balikbayan travel agency can arrange for you a guide that would walk you through the Tarsier Trail which connects the towns of Loboc, Corella and Sikatuna.

A Filling Loboc River Cruise
Dine in a floating restaurant that smoothly glides down a winding river called Loboc River. A local band plays relaxing and upbeat music while tourists partake of an array of delicious native dishes. The nipa palms, coconut trees, banana grooves and wild green bushes on the sides generate breeze that is soothing to the nerves.

To fully enjoy all these perks in your vacation to Bohol tap the services of a balikbayan travel agency.

Manila is the entry point to almost all tourist destinations in the Philippines. It is the country’s capital and the major international airports are located here. Avail of cheap airline tickets to Manila and see the many interesting places all over the Philippines.

The famous Mayon Volcano, known for its perfect cone shape is located in the eastern side of the Philippines, the world famous subterranean river is located in Palawan down in the south. The scenic view of Baguio City is up in the northern part of the Philippines. There are many other places in the country where you can find exotic flora and fauna, unique caves, pristine beaches, natural wonders and beautiful coral reefs.

To maximize the benefits of your cheap airline tickets to Manila, it is best to explore Manila first. A balikbayan travel agency can organize a day tour for you. This usually includes a tour to Intramuros and Luneta.

Intramuros is a testament of the Spanish regime in the country. Up to this day the stone houses and courtyards constructed during the sixteenth century is still well kept and maintained. Inside Intramuros is Fort Santiago, a military fortress constructed from stone. Portions of these historical areas are now used as open air theater and promenades.

Another historical landmark in Manila worth visiting is Luneta Park where the monument of the Philippine’s national hero, Jose Rizal was erected. The park is shape like a moon thus the name Luneta which is derive from the word, luna, the latin term for moon. The park was constructed during the 18th century and it is in this park where Jose Rizal was executed by the Spaniards on the latter part of the 18th century.

A travel to the Philippines is always worth your money and effort but it would be more economical if you will watch out for cheap airline tickets to Manila.

Samat marker

If you’re visiting Bataan in the Philippines, one destination you should not forget is Mt. Samat. It’s famous as the location of the Dambana ng Kagitingan or The Shrine of Valor, a memorial cross measuring 92 meters in height, whose history date back to the Second World War.

A Background of the Place
Bataan is remembered today as the place where the Death March took place, and the Filipinos who fought in Bataan back in World War II are considered heroes for their bravery and patriotism. The Shrine of Valor had been built in Mt. Samat in memory of the Filipinos, Japanese and Americans who fought and died in war at the Pacific, and it serves today as a reminder of that fateful era.

Dambana ng Kagitingan Cross

How to Get to Mt. Samat
Most tourists who visit Mt. Samat hire a vehicle to take them there, or bring their own auto. If you want to try the local way, though, you can ride a jeepney from Balanga City going to Bagac, Bataan. When you reach Mount Samat, you can either walk to the top or ride a tricycle – there are many of them at the foot of the mountain. Click here for Google map.

Walking to the top would be great if you want to commune with nature – the place is awesome! Of course, the climb would give you exercise. It’s a long climb, though, amounting to around a couple of hours (about 2 hours each way). So, pack a lot of endurance with you.

Machine gun at Mt. Samat

Meanwhile, if you’re riding a tricycle, the fee is 100 pesos to the top (per person). A single tricycle can accommodate up to four people. When you reach the top, either you have the driver wait for you for your climb down (fee is negotiable and ranges from P50 to P100 per person) or take chances and pray that there’ll be a tricycle going down when it’s time for you to leave. Another option would be to get the contact number of the driver so that you can ask him to pick you up later (again, price is negotiable).

Entrance to Mt. Samat
Although very popular, Mt. Samat remains within reach of budget tourists. Entrance is very cheap: P10 for students, P20 for adults (locals), and P30 for visitors from foreign countries. If you have a car with you, you’ll also have to pay for a parking fee (from P30-P50). Upon entrance and payment, you’ll be given a ticket, which you will need to be able to get into the museum.

<img src="http://filipinotravelagency.com/wp-content/uploads/5-dambana-ng-kagitingan-museum-300x200.jpg" alt="Museum at Dambana ng Kagitingan in Mt. The first thing that most visitors notice with Mt. Samat is its closeness to nature. Even as you go up this mountain, you’ll already feel like you’re communing with Mother Earth – trees all around, winding road with very few houses, and the view of some parts of Bataan Province below which is truly spectacular. When you reach the top, the meeting of the earth and the sky in the horizon creates a truly magical and breathtaking sight.

Shrine of Valor marker

Once you’re there, you sure wouldn’t miss the Shrine of Valor. It looms majestically in its place, a huge cross with its arms serving as a viewing deck. You can go up into its arms thru an elevator (fee is P10) and then see almost the whole of Bataan from up there. The elevator is available from 8AM to 5PM, although it closes from 12 noon to 1PM for lunch break. There is usually a line of people towards the elevator – the viewing deck is very popular among visitors.

After the deck, you can check out the museum – Death March in Bataan photos, war equipment and paraphernalia (bayonets, bazooka, machine guns, and even an old radio), old military stuff (uniform and Japanese money), as well as a three-dimensional map of Bataan. If you have a camera, however, you can’t use that inside as taking of pictures is not allowed.

Shrine of Valor Cross

After sightseeing, you may want to buy souvenirs for your loved ones at home. There are a few stores in the area, which sell stuff like hats, t-shirts, and keychains.

If you want to avail of a formal tour of Mt. Samat, there are also people who serve as tour guides. We met one when we were there last time. Bong Mamuad offers Mt. Samat tours at the rate of P300-P500. If you’re interested, the contact number is (+63-907) 219-3887.

When tourists visit the Philippines, it’s either to lounge in the white-sand and powdery beaches of its islands or to explore its mountains and commune with nature. Many go island-hopping, while some others try caving.

Another exciting, yet not too explored, activity in the country is the sea kayaking sport and adventure. This activity is ideal for adventurers at heart, for people who are looking for heartbeat-racing and adrenaline-pumping exploits while on vacation.

And when it comes to kayaking, there are many ideal places in the Philippines. Almost every destination spot offers a place that’s ideal for this activity. And, kayaking comes with it a deeper sense of exploration and familiarity with the place.

One popular kayaking trail is the Cavite-Corregidor-Bataan corridor, which begins in Manila Bay. Kayaking in this trail will give one the chance to enjoy the historical places of the sites by embarking on a walking tour afterwards.

If you want another kayaking experience, an activity that’s one with nature, you can check out the kayaking areas in Bohol: Abatan River and Banacon Island, among others. Here, what you’ll enjoy are the famous sandbars of the province, as well as its mangrove areas.

Davao also offers similar activities, offering caves and reefs instead for your eyes to feast on along the way. Moonlight kayaking is also another form to try. It will show you the place from a different perspective, softer and lovelier in the shadows. Mactan is a good place for this activity.

If you want to enjoy a full kayaking experience in the country, there are kayaking tours that you can join. You can choose from the following: basic packages for beginners, adventure kayaking tour packages, as well as luxury kayaking. You can also choose the place that you want to explore, depending on the complementing activities (as mentioned above) that might be of interest to you.

There’s Boracay island and its fine, white sands; there’s Palawan and its rich marine life; there’s Banaue and its unique rice terraces; and many others. But, while these places are popular, these are just what you’d call as the frontliners. Among those considered as even more beautiful places in the Philippines are those that you seldom hear of, those that are not frequently talked about or advertised, still hidden and unexploited. One such travel destination in the Philippines is Caramoan Island.

What is Caramoan?
People in the Philippines refer to Caramoan islands as a hidden paradise. It’s a group of isolated islands that offer the perfect balance between earth and water. From afar, the lush greens stand out to approaching visitors. But, once you reach the islands, you’ll be awed by the crystal clear waters and the powdery beaches. From the trees and the wild animals in these islands to the rich and diverse living creatures underwater, you get all the ingredients that bring you closer to nature – serene and calm but fun and exciting.

Despite this closeness to nature, however, you’ll find resorts in Caramoan that are equipped with all your needed amenities – you won’t feel completely out of touch with the world. There are resorts that offer luxurious cabanas and rooms for those who want a pampered vacation and there are also affordable inns and pension houses for those who are traveling on a budget.

Experiencing Caramoan islands
There are many ways to experience Caramoan. You can have marine adventures, land explorations, or a combination of both.

Island hopping. The place is foremost known for the island hopping adventures that it offers. There are island hopping tours offered in the area, and you have the chance to explore some or all of the islands depending on the tour that you choose.

Snorkeling. If you want to experience the marine life in this paradise, that’s easy! All you need is your snorkel and some basic skills underwater to get a chance to see the corals and fishes down there.

Spelunking. Although Caramoan is popular for its rich islands and beautiful waters, the place also boasts of marvelous caves. Cave exploration is one true adventure as you may have to maneuver through mud, climb cliffs, swim in deep water, and balance on rocks just to see the beauty of the caves. But, the adventure is all worth it when you see the inside. The stalactites and stalagmites form a spectacular architecture, and there are thousands of bats or kulapnit that may be scary but are actually harmless. The experience and beauty of the place is one that you’d remember long after your vacation is over.

Rock climbing. If you are adventurous at heart and you’re not afraid of heights, you may want to give this activity a try. It’s fun and exhilarating, but it also requires some form of experience.

Trekking and mountain biking. For those who love forests and greens, these are perfect activities. The lush vegetations are refreshing, and the view from the top is truly magnificent – stretches of blue and green water as far as the eyes could see. You might want to climb the 500 steps to see the statue of Our Lady of Peace in Mt. Caglago (tiring but rewarding), or explore unchartered areas in the islands (just be sure you have a guide). You can walk or trek, or bike, in order to enjoy the sceneries in any of the islands.

Kayaking. Kayakers will surely have fun exploring the waters of Caramoan. A word of caution, though: if you’re planning to go kayaking during your visit, choose a quiet month when there aren’t storms – the storms are common during certain months (later part of the year).

Some of these activities, you can avail together in one single tour. Prior to visiting the place, you can already check online for available tour packages.

To get to Caramoan, you can either take a 10-hour bus ride or board a plane from Manila to Camarines Sur. Then, you can take a fast craft or an outrigger pump boat to Caramoan. You can also arrange a boat rental with the resort you’re staying in, coordinate with a Philippines specialists travel agency or get in touch with the tourism office for transfers.

Considered as the mango capital of the Philippines, the place boasts of the sweetest mangoes in the country. In fact, its mangoes are of export quality. But, other than this, Guimaras is also one of the most popular destination spots in the Philippines, all thanks to its lovely beaches.

The first time I’ve seen Guimaras during a travel with some friends, it was its roads that first attracted me. They were long and unwinding, and they open up like they were headed to the clouds far ahead.

Guimaras is a small community that’s accessible only by water – there’s no airport in the area. You will need to fly to Ilo-ilo and then board a boat to take you to the place. There’s a small center in the port from which you can inquire about your destination. The staff in the center even offers a free map for visitors to help you get around. A word of caution: upon arrival, be prepared to deal with a whole lot of drivers offering their services to tour you around or bring you to your destination for a considerable amount. During our visit, we hired a tricycle (three-wheeled automobile) to bring us to the Puyo Wharf, at the rate of P250.

The roads in Guimaras offer a refreshing sight, far from the traffic-plagued roads of the city. There are only very few houses in the area, as well as very few vehicles. So, the roads are very open – all you’ll see from afar are grasses and trees. You’ll also see hectares of mango trees, with their fruits wrapped in paper to protect them from pest and keep the skin smooth and blemish-free.

Somewhere in Ravina, the tricycle driver stopped at the side of the road to show us the Turtle Island from afar. The island is called by that name because it’s a breeding ground for turtles. It’s accessible by boat, too bad we weren’t able to visit the area during our stay.

The island-resort that we visited was Baras, a family-managed resort that is known for the privacy that it offers to visitors. It’s a place of relaxation. If you want to forget the monotony of your daily routines, your problems at work, or the stress of family life, then Baras Beach Resort is for you. The said resort is an island surrounded by many other islands. Because of this, the water on its beach is very calm and unmoving – there are no waves to fear. The beach, though, isn’t sandy – it’s composed of small stones and corals. But, the water is so clear you’ll even see small fishes swimming by your feet when you stand in the water. The water’s very salty, though, it’s almost irritating to the eyes.

There are different cottages in Baras situated in different parts of the island. Our cottage was overlooking the sea. It was located in one of the protruding cliffs, the edge of which drops sharply down to the water – being there felt extra special. The rate of the cottages starts at P950 (good for three people). There is an additional entrance fee of P50, for the use of such amenities as the volleyball court, pool table, and even a boat for rowing. The latter activity was so much fun – we were able to reach the nearby islands and were able to look closely at the corals surrounding the resort.
Food was not a problem as well. The resort offers a wide range of dishes that includes seafood, veggies, and meat. For dinner, we had a half kilo of chicken (fried) for P200, a half kilo of shrimp (sweet and spicy) for P250, a half kilo of squid (stuffed) for P250, mixed vegetables (stir-fried) for P120, a pot of steaming rice for P100, and a one-liter bottle of soda for P75. According to the manager, guests can also call in advance should they have special needs, like wine, so that they can prepare them prior to the guests’ arrival. One thing you need to know, though – there’s no electricity in Baras islands. They have generator, which is only used from 6PM to 10PM, after which they distribute candles for use by guests. So, have all your batteries fully charged or bring extra lighting with you. You may also want to bring mosquito repellents as protection – although the resort provides mosquito net for use at night.

After our stay in Guimaras, we checked out the souvenir shops and “pasalubong” centers (places where you can purchase local pastries and goods to bring to your loved ones back home). One of the most popular in Guimaras is the Trappist Monastery, a monastery that produces goods like mango bars (P75 per pack, 10 bars), mango biscocho (P35), piaya (P35), and other candies. Another is the Guimaras Trade and Information Center, which offers not only goods but as well as stuff like printed T-shirts (around P200), customized ballpens (P30), and accessories (starting at P20). Of course, we didn’t miss the local market for mangoes. They have very big mangoes, one kilo of which would only consist of three pieces. During our visit, the mangoes were a little expensive, P90 per kilo. But, they were indeed very sweet.
There are still a lot of places to visit in Guimaras, but we were not able to check them out because there wasn’t enough time – we only stayed there for one day and one night. If you’re going to Guimaras island, allot enough time to check out places like the Guisi Lighthouse and the many other islands in the area. It’s a good option if you’re looking for a cheap vacation in the Philippines. The place oozes with simplicity, and it’s a perfect getaway if you want to unwind by going back to the basics of life.

Just last year (2009), the province of Palawan has received recognition from China. In a survey that was conducted by CTrip.com, one of the China’s leading online travel agency and travel magazine – Elite Traveler, the province of Palawan scored high on the list . Readers and frequent travelers have noted Palawan as one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

This is another validation of the fact that Palawan is one different kind of experience in the Philippines and it can be traced on its eco-tourism sites. Other Philippine provinces offers their main theme to be beaches (like Boracay), but in Palawan, visitors are treated to a different eco-tourism adventure. And in this province, one eco-tourism site that is leading the charge for better appreciation is the Palawan Underground River.

There are a lot of things going for this subterranean river. One noteworthy feature is the fact that this has been cited as a candidate to become one of the world’s new wonders. The way voting has been behaving, it can be expected that this subterranean wonder will make the list.

What to expect from the Palawan Underground River
When you get to the area, expect to be treated to a spectacular limestone karst landscape that line up the underground river. There is tour boat that can be rented in the area which can be used to navigate the underground river. As you go along on one of the longest underground river in the world, you will be treated to stalactites and limestone formations.

Another interesting feature on the underground river is the behavior of the flowing water. The water actually flows directly into the sea, and the lower end of the river is influenced by the movements of the tides.

But the river and the stalactite and limestone formations are not the only things worth visiting at the Palawan and the Underground River Park area.

The diversity in flora and fauna surrounding the park are interesting as well. As of the last count, there are at least 800 plant species thriving in the area. And when it comes to fauna, expect to witness at least 252 birds’ species in the area including the Palawan horn bill and the breasted sea eagle.

And inside the cave, a good number of bats can be expected there as well. You could say that this underground river is just the perfect spot for tourists looking to learn about biodiversity and ecological environment, reason enough why it was included in the UNESCO listing.

Since there is a boat that can be rented for a minimal cost (less than $10 for everything), navigating this subterranean paradise is easy and affordable.

Though this area is open year-round, still the best time to visit is from January to June when the weather is friendlier. Past June, the weather can put your trip at a disadvantage due to rains and unexpected shifts in the weather. Navigating the river system could be hard, and exploring the rest of the area can be problematic.

There are some things to be remembered when visiting the Palawan Subterranean River Park the first time. The best time to check is during the day since there are no overnight facilities that operate at night. But you can check out some commercial and locally-owned facilities that can be rented. Foods are offered at modest prices and yes they are offered in both local and international cuisine.

Visiting Restrictions
Since this is already one of the country’s natural reserves, expect some restrictions in place. For example there is the ‘No Permit, No Entrance’ policy . You can get your permits from the Information and Booking Office of the park located in the city. And if you are a group of more than forty people, do secure your booking at least 3 days in advance. (http://www.puerto-undergroundriver.com/tourism/accommodations-and-park-entry/).

The Philippines is an archipelago with 7,107 islands. Some of these islands are favorite Philippine travel destinations by tourists because of its unique setting and features. One of these is the island of Corregidor.

Corregidor Island is the setting of significant events in Philippine history. The Battle of Corregidor is a historical event which happened during World War II. It showed the gallantry of 12,000 men who fought steadily for 27 days against the Japanese armies who wants to invade the country. This grim battle ended the Japanese Empire’s desire and efforts to totally invade the Philippines. Corregidor being the last standing military camp of Filipino and American soldiers that the Japanese would like to seize is strategically located at the mouth of Manila Bay area and directly facing the China Sea.

The relics from World War II were carefully preserved for the education and appreciation of tourists. These include the barracks, the hospital, weaponry, cannons, personal belongings of soldiers, etc. But the most striking monumental structure of this historic travel destination in the Philippines is the Malinta Tunnel. It is a spacious tunnel from which branch out 21 minor tunnels. This served as the head quarter of Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur and the Philippine government when they were fighting against the Japanese. This tunnel which was built through solid rock in the span of 10 years was bombproof. It also served as hospital and storage area during the war.

Ask your Philippines-specialist travel agent to include the Malinta Tunnel Light and Sound Show in your travel package. There are two kinds of shows, the light and sound show for the day tour package and the light and sound show for the overnight tour package. The Malinta Tunnel Light and Sound Show for the day tour is a 30 minute of walk back in time. Trough a diorama featuring life size sculptures, the significant events that transpired in the tunnel during the war was simulated. Special lightings and sound effects are used for a more realistic effect. You can feel as if the life size figures of soldiers are really conversing and you can also hear the sounds of approaching bombs and gunshots. Preserved war footages are also featured in the show.

The Malinta Light and Sound Show for the overnight tour package is more effective and a bit eerie. The sub lateral tunnels are included in the tour where the hospital and offices were depicted.

Aside from its historical significance Corregidor is a beautiful and relaxing island. The island is mountainous with thick lush vegetation that makes it a rich natural habitat of birds and animals. You can see monkeys crossing the streets oblivious to the presence of tourists.

There are still many things that you can do in this famous Philippine travel destination which are camping, trekking, swimming or maybe you can just explore the whole island aboard a tramvia – a vintage bus which is open on both sides so that tourists can have a vantage view of the surroundings.

There are many things that you can do in the Philippines. You can visit lots of natural and man-made Philippines travel destinations. Foremost to this are the scenic spots most frequently visited by tourists both local and foreign. These are the Boracay Beach, Banaue Rice Terraces and Baguio City.

Boracay Beach
Boracay Beach is known worldwide because of its powdery soft white sands. This is a haven for beach lovers and many tourists flocked to this Philippines travel destination especially during summer months. Yahoo Travel and BMW Tropical Beach Handbook recognize Boracay Beach as one of the world’s best beaches. This small island of about seven kilometers long with its narrowest width at about a kilometer has several beaches and many coves.

Tourists enjoy swimming, snorkeling, diving, island hopping and many sports activities by day – and by night, the beach is still alive as there are many restaurants where they can taste cuisine and specialties from different parts of the globe. The shoreline is also dotted with many hip bars and some bars features ethnic and rock bands. If you are traveling alone you can bond and make friends with other tourist as the ambiance is congenial and warm.

Baguio City
Baguio City is touted as the summer capital of the Philippines because of its cool weather even during the summer months. It is a city on top of mountains with lots of pine trees. One of the best things in this Philippines travel destination is that the tourist attractions are located just near each other. Top among them is the Mines View Park, Camp John Hay, Session Road, Philippine Military Academy, Strawberry Fields, Burnham Park and Wright Park. Transportation is cheap and is widely available; taxi cab drivers are friendly and a lot of them are also trained tour guides. You can ask your Filipino travel agency to arrange for you a day tour and you can already cover almost all the interesting tourist spots and that will leave you more time for shopping for souvenirs.

Banaue Rice Terraces
This manmade tourist attraction is well known throughout the world because it was once recognized as one of the eight wonders of the world and is also a UNESCO world heritage site. These are rice fields on steps carved by the natives on the side of hills. Seen from afar it resembles like an amphitheater or a huge stairway to heaven. This huge rice field on level steps was manually made about 2000 years ago without the aid of any machinery by the Ifugao tribes.

If you can only spare a day or two of vacation and you love nature then make it Bohol. This island is one of the largest in the Philippine archipelago. The famous tourist attractions in this Philippines travel destination are the Chocolate Hills, tarsiers, cruise on the Loboc River, white sand beaches and beautiful dive spots.

Chocolate Hills
These hills numbering more than 1,200 are quite small with a height that range from 30 meters to 50 meters. Many tourists can’t believe that they are not man made because they are almost uniform in size and in shape. They are covered with green, green grass which turns brown when it dries in the summer. Thus seen from afar they look like mounds of chocolate.

Philippine Tarsiers
Another attraction why tourist flocked to this Philippines travel destination is to see the tarsiers. This is an unusually small animal about the size of a fist of a person. It’s a nocturnal animal thus its eyes is unproportionally larger than its body. Its middle finger is elongated and it has a very large ankle bones.

The Philippine tarsier is one of the smallest known primates all over the world. Some mistake it for a monkey but it’s not.

Loboc River Cruise
Have your Filipino travel agency arranged a Loboc River Cruise for you. It’s a cruise on a winding river aboard a floating restaurant. The cruise fare includes a buffet of Filipino dishes. As you dine, the floating restaurant smoothly glides down the river lined with nipa palms, coconut trees, banana grooves and lush green bushes. You will also be entertained by bands in the boat playing native songs and other relaxing and upbeat music. The cruise ends at Busay fall where you will be met with a band in native costume playing rondalla music in a floating cottage. If you still have more time left you can take a refreshing dip in the Busay waterfall.

Balicasag Scuba Diving
Some of the best dive sites in the Philippines are in Balicasag Island. It has a marine sanctuary which can be enjoyed not only through scuba diving but even just by snorkeling because corals and colorful fishes can already be spotted even on shallow waters. The island is small and can be explored in just 45 minutes. Its sand is white and shaded with palm trees and bouganville flowers.

Inquire from a Scarborough travel agency on the details of this Philippine travel destination so you can have a more relaxing and enjoyable travel.

Filipino travel services will not only facilitate your travel to the Philippines but it will also help you to travel economically.

There are many interesting places to visit in the Philippines. The islands are so captivating especially if you are a nature lover. Travel less so you can visit more tourist attractions in the Philippines. One of the best ways to save on travels is by looking for airfare deals to the Philippines.

Monitor airline websites
Almost all major airlines flying to the Philippines regularly offer discounts on their airfares. This is to attract more patronage thus having an edge over their competitors. Another reason is to maximize utilization of the aircraft space during lean months. Since you do not know when exactly are they going to offer discounted airfare it is best that you regularly visit their websites so you’ll be the first to book lest you lost the opportunity. Take note that many out there are also scouting for cheap airfares. But if you are busy and doesn’t have the penchant to always look for the latest promos and discounts offered by several airlines then you can just refer to a Filipino travel services who can suggest to you or look in your behalf the cheapest airfare offered by these airlines on your target date of travel to the Philippines.

Advance booking
One good strategy to attain cheap airfares is by planning your trip ahead of time. If you plan your travel one year ahead the chance of getting discounted airfare is greater. The time value of your money works here. But be very sure of your schedule before booking because if later on you will found out that the schedule you booked is not feasible then you’ll have to pay for the change of schedule and some airline charges on this are quite high or you may just be forced to cancel your flight which is also costly. Haste makes waste so study first your schedule.

Since your booking is way much ahead rather take care of your health so that you will not get sick on the time of your departure. Research also the weather forecast on your scheduled flights. As much as possible don’t schedule it when it’s rainy or it’s typhoon season on the particular destination in the Philippines that you choose because your scheduled flight might be cancelled. You can refer to websites of reliable weather forecasts or can inquire from your Filipino travel services provider on when is the best time to visit a particular tourist destination in the Philippines.

Frequent flyers
Another technique on how you can save on your airfare is by availing of the frequent flyer promo. This is offered by some of the major credit card companies where every time you use this kind of card in paying for your airfare you earn some reward points. If you keep on using your card your accumulated reward points can be converted into flying mileage. This can give you significant discounts on airfare or maybe a totally free plane fare. A Filipino travel services provider can recommend to you the frequent flyer card that can give you the most benefits

Vigan City is the capital of Ilocos Sur, a province that is 400 kilometers from Manila. Despite its distance, you won’t regret traveling to this UNESCO World Heritage Site because it will give you a true glimpse of how a Spanish colonial town looked like in the 16th century. It is a well-preserved site despite the flourishing of the times.

While in this travel destination in the Philippines, you can go see old colonial houses that were once occupied by affluent Chinese businessmen. House construction then involved using thick bricks and red clay for walls and tiles for the roofs. Visiting these houses will surely bring you back into a time that was. The St. Paul’s Cathedral should also be on your itinerary when visiting Vigan. It was built in the late 16th century by Augustinians monks. It has 12 altars which brings the overall grandeur of the church a notch higher. And not to be missed is the bell tower just 10 meters south of the church.

One other place of interest in this Philippines travel destination is the Palacio de Arzobispado. It is the official residence of the archbishop and served as the headquarters of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. It also houses a museum which has a wide collection of paintings, religious articles, manuscripts, and more. Another museum, the Burgos National Museum can also give you a chance to retrace history once again.

Vigan is best visited during its fiesta because of the various entertaining and religious activities conducted. Tourists also have a fondness of visiting this Philippines travel destination during the Holy Week to see antique and life-sized statues during the procession.

You can get to Vigan City by a taking a bus or a plane to Laoag City. From there, you may need to board another bus to get to Vigan, however, there are buses which ply the route directly. Accommodations are not a problem since there are many ancestral houses that serve as inns and hotels in the city.
